The surgical team, led by Dr. Ankush, conducted a complex operation to extract the coins, which included denominations of ₹2, ₹10, and ₹20. The doctor revealed that the patient suffers from schizophrenia, a severe mental illness that distorts an individual’s perception of reality. Patients with schizophrenia often experience delusions and hallucinations, and their condition varies depending on the stage of the disease.
According to the surgeon, this was an extremely challenging procedure, as the patient’s stomach had expanded like a balloon due to the sheer number of coins. The operation required careful navigation using CR imaging to locate and remove the coins one by one. The surgery lasted for nearly three hours. Despite the complexities involved, the medical team successfully completed the operation, providing much-needed relief to the patient and his family.
