Draught like conditions in the winters: CS directs DCs to buckle-up

Evaluating the Winter drought like conditions the Chief Secratery of Himachal Pradesh held a high level meeting at the State capital today
Chief Secretary Parbodh Saxena today held this meet with DCA and other departmental HODs.
State Disaster Management authority spokesperson Sudesh Mokta said that the CS directed the concerned Deputy Commissioner(s) to provide information about the current drought like situation.
The Jalshakti Vibhag, Agriculture and Horticulture Department aprised CS about the damage caused by the possible drought and the effect on drinking water schemes.
The CS also directed the DCs and departmental HODs to hold routine meetings to access the situation. Mokta said that during the meeting Department of Jalshakti informed that, so far situation is normal in the state , but if this dry weather continues for the next 10-15 days, it may adversely affect the agriculture, horticulture and drinking water schemes.
The Forest Department was asked to be prepared to deal with possible incidents of forest fires due to drought.
Jal Shakti Department was instructed to revive the traditional drinking water schemes, and to keep the water sources clean from any possible diseases. The District Magistrates and Animal Husbandry Department were instructed to ensure availability of proper fodder and water for the animals.
The Chief Secretary also asked all the department heads to maintain coordination with the Disaster Management Department on the situation so that necessary action can be taken in time for any emergency situation.
Apart from this, the Chief Secretary also urged the people of the state to stop misuse or wastage of drinking water.
