Opposition Congress staged protest in the Assembly on Monday alleging that
State Government failed to handle or manage the Covid-19 pandemic situation in the state and the entire cabinet of Jai Ram Thakur should tender resignation.
Soon after the obituary references in the afternoon on Monday Opposition Congress moved an adjournment motion under the rule 67 to discuss the Covid situation and failure of State Government to manage and handle the pandemic in last six months.
Speaker allowed the Opposition leader to present the motion in the house as Mukesh Agnihotri insisted to discuss this issue on the Adjournment motion. Agnihotri insisted the speaker to accept its motion adjourning the rest of business.
Amid the disruption Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that he came with clear heart to the house and has no intention to disrupt the Opposition move to not allow adjournment motion and if speaker allowed his government would discuss it today. Later speaker Vipin Singh Parmar accepted the adjournment under rule 67.
Before the discussion Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur introduced three newly inducted Power and Multipurpose project ministers Sukh Ram Chaudhary, Forest Minister Rakesh Pathania and Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs minister Rajinder Garg before the discussion.
Moving the motion under rule 67 Agnihotri said that state government which was on the verge to declare Himachal Corona free and is now in complete failure. Opposition leader said that all Congress legislators and 11 opposition members demanding to convened special session to discuss this issue.
If speaker allowed to discuss pandemic situation under rule -67 it is a victory of the Congress legislature that it has forced Government to cow-down to debate on this issue, said Cong leader. He blamed the Government that entire system of state is in complete chaos as it is not able to take any effective decision to handle the situation.
Agnihotri said that Jai Ram Thakur Government increased the prices of PDS ration for the APL families. It increased the power and bus fare. He said that 50 per cent hike was being made in the bus-fare. Traveling of people were inflated by increasing the prices.
Angihotri said that the Government should explain why Former Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj despite the announcement to exempt the school fee which schools have waived off the tuition fee.
He said that 2000 people committed suicide under this government which include 500 during the pandemic . Interfering in the discussion Chief Minister said that he wanted to apprise the member that figure of suicides during the Congress rule not different.
Agnihotri also took on the Chief Minister for giving clean chit to former BJP president Rajeev Bindal.” I want to ask if Bindal was named in the PPE kit scam why he was given clean chit,” asked the opposition leader.
Agnihotri said that the Principal of Tanda Medical College tendered resignation, denying to purchase the Covid material on the inflated colleges. A Chief Engineer of IPH department also tendered resignation allegedly not work in the dictate of the Government.
He alleged that member of Jai Ram Government cabinet are running to Delhi with complaints against each other. “Charges of corruption are being leveled on each other,” he stated. He said that this government seemed to be extended government of Delhi as it is not capable of taking decisions itself here .
