FIR in Himalayan Brahmo Samaj fraud case

An FIR has been lodged at the Boileauganj Police Station, Shimla, based on a complaint filed by Vishal Sharma, General Secretary of the Himalayan Brahmo Samaj Shimla, along with other members of the organization, including Mela Ram Sagaroli, Mahinder Kumar, and Harish Kumar.
The case highlights allegations of fraud, property misappropriation, and embezzlement involving multiple individuals from different locations.
The FIR names several accused, including Bindiya Kullar, Sanjeev Suri, Pramila Suri, and Nitin Suri from New Delhi; Lalit Verma from Summer Hill, Shimla; Swami Tanmahimananda, and Anantatmahimananda with 2 others from the Ramakrishna Mission Belur Math; as well as two more from Shimla.
They have been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery), 471 (using forged documents), 442 (criminal trespass), and 120B (criminal conspiracy), among others.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly prepared fraudulent proposals in the name of the Himalayan Brahmo Samaj Shimla and illicitly sold and transferred the organization’s properties under the guise of gifts. It is further alleged that the accused embezzled crores of rupees in the process.
Vishal Sharma stated that despite repeated attempts to bring the matter to the attention of authorities, including memorandums submitted to the Chief Minister and other officials, no action was taken.
Trustee Dharam Pal Thakur also expressed frustration over the lack of response from the administration, emphasizing the organization’s ongoing struggle for justice.
The complainants also accused former Director General of Police (DGP) Sanjay Kundu of colluding with some of the named individuals, including Swami Tanmahimananda and Lalit Verma. They alleged that then DGP Kundu abused his position of power, illegally detaining Sharma’s daughter.
An internal investigation reportedly validated the allegations, but no FIR has yet been filed against the former DGP.
The Himalayan Brahmo Samaj has also appealed to the government and administrative authorities to ensure the uninterrupted performance of Brahma worship in their temple, which they claim has been disrupted due to the ongoing conflicts.
The case has garnered attention due to the involvement of high-profile individuals and organizations. The complainants have urged the authorities to expedite the investigation to deliver justice. Further developments in the case are awaited.
