Woman Constable’s complaint leads to FIR against Gopi Jacks
Shimla, July 31,
Shimla Police have registered an FIR against Gopi Jacks following a complaint filed by a woman police constable, alleging that he made objectionable and derogatory remarks about her during a press conference.
According to an official police briefing issued on Friday, Woman Constable Deepika Thakur submitted a complaint at the Women Police Station, BCS, Shimla, alleging that during a press conference organised by Gopi Jacks, he made public remarks about her that were offensive and insulting. The complaint further alleged that he commented on her physical appearance and body weight, thereby hurting her dignity and reputation.
The complainant stated that the remarks, which were widely circulated on social media after the press conference, caused her mental distress, humiliation and damage to her social standing.
She also alleged that the statements amounted to a public attack on the personal dignity of a woman police employee.
Taking cognisance of the complaint and the available facts, the Women Police Station at BCS, Shimla, has registered an FIR against Gopi Jacks under the relevant provisions of law. Police said a fair and lawful investigation into the allegations has been initiated.
The police, however, did not disclose the specific legal provisions invoked in the FIR or provide further details about the alleged statements made during the press conference.
