The Hamirpur police have registered a case against two individuals for allegedly making derogatory remarks against the Father of nation Mahatma Gandhi and circulating a digitally altered photograph of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on social media.
This action follows a complaint lodged by Suman Bharti, President of the District Congress Committee, Hamirpur. The police have registered the case and initiated an investigation. The Congress party has condemned the act as an attempt to tarnish the Chief Minister’s image and a violation of democratic values, demanding strict action against the accused.
District Congress President Suman Bharti stated that a photograph of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was allegedly tampered with and circulated widely on social media. He alleged that this was an attempt to damage the Chief Minister’s reputation.

Furthermore, abusive and objectionable language was allegedly used against Mahatma Gandhi on social media. He mentioned that, viewing these incidents seriously, a formal complaint was lodged at the Sadar Police Station in Hamirpur.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Balbir Singh Thakur said, “Allegedly objectionable comments against the Chief Minister and Mahatma Gandhi were made on a social media post by a local leader from Hamirpur.
Following the complaint, a case has been registered against two individuals named Ravi Sharma and Himanta Chaudhary. The police are investigating all aspects, including digital evidence.”
SP Balbir Singh Thakur stated that further action would be taken based on the available evidence and legal provisions once the investigation is complete.
He appealed to the public to use social media responsibly and refrain from posting or sharing any misleading or objectionable content. The police are currently investigating the matter.
