A flash flood triggered by a cloud burst near Sagnam Nalluh in the Spiti subdivision of Lahaul and Spiti has left one woman missing and a vehicle buried under debris, informed a official. The incident, reported by the District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC), occurred on Friday, though the exact time is yet to be confirmed.
Rescue operations was conducted with a team from IPC 17th Corps and local police at the scene. An ambulance and JCB were also deployed to assist in the rescue efforts, they stated. No other casualties or significant property damage have been reported.
The DEOC has informed the District Administration, and further details are awaited from field officials.
Noteworthy that over the last two days, seven people have died and 55 missing in the state due to rain-related incidents, which has claimed approximately 200 lives.
Although the monsoon rains have been subdued, recent cloudbursts have caused significant destruction, resulting in 60 deaths in the last three days and 55 people remaining untraceable under the debris.
