Fresh tariff announced For flights in Himachal Pradesh
Shimla, May 14,
After months of uncertainty over air connectivity in Himachal Pradesh and sharp observations by the Himachal Pradesh High Court regarding the exclusion of Shimla from the regional air network, Alliance Air has resumed operations on the Delhi–Shimla and Shimla–Dharamshala sectors under a renewed agreement with the Himachal Pradesh government and fresh tariff have been announced in Himachal Pradesh.
According to information received , fresh all-inclusive fares have now been fixed for the sectors being operated under the renewed contract with the state government. The Delhi–Shimla fare has been fixed at Rs 7,782, while Shimla–Delhi will cost Rs 7,740. The Shimla–Dharamshala sector has been priced at Rs 4,424 and Dharamshala–Shimla at Rs 4,997.
As per the latest schedule effective from May 10 to October 24, 2026, Alliance Air will operate Delhi–Shimla–Dharamshala flights on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. A separate Delhi–Shimla–Delhi service will also operate on Sundays.
The Delhi–Shimla flight is scheduled to depart at 7:10 am on most operating days and arrive in Shimla at 8:35 am before proceeding onward to Dharamshala. Return flights from Shimla to Delhi will operate around mid-day on weekdays, while Sunday operations will have an earlier turnaround schedule.
The resumption of services comes amid continuing debate over Himachal Pradesh’s fragile air connectivity network. The issue had recently reached the Himachal Pradesh High Court, which questioned the Union government over Shimla’s exclusion from effective regional air connectivity and expressed concern over prolonged disruption of flights to the state capital.
Flights on the Shimla route had remained suspended for several months owing to aircraft shortages and operational constraints, triggering criticism from tourism stakeholders, business groups and residents dependent on quick access to Delhi.
The Himachal Pradesh government had subsequently renewed its arrangement with Alliance Air to restore operations on the Delhi–Shimla–Dharamshala circuit, with the state reportedly extending viability support under the agreement to maintain services on the challenging hill routes.
Reliable air connectivity has long remained a sensitive issue in Himachal Pradesh, particularly for Shimla, where weather conditions, short runway limitations and operational costs have repeatedly affected flight continuity. Tourism industry representatives have argued that regular flights are critical for high-end tourism, medical travel, business movement and emergency connectivity in the hill state.
