In a concerning development, Head Constable Jasveer Saini, stationed at the Kala Amb Police Station in District Sirmour, has been reported missing since 11 June 2024. The report of his disappearance was filed by his spouse, Anita Kumari, who resides in Village Nawada, Post Office Shivpur, Tehsil Paonta Sahib, District Sirmour.
In response to the report, the Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh, has assigned the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Crime from the State CID to lead the investigation into Saini’s disappearance. The DIG/Crime has already proceeded to Sirmour District to commence a thorough inquiry.
Noteworthy that on Wednesday a video by the said head constable accusing his senior officers of influencing a case enquiry which he as designated on to, went viral on social media. The IO in question had made the accusations has gone viral on the social media, even shared by state BJP. In the video the policeman can be seen and heard blaming Senior Officer to book an accused under stringent sections of IPC.
In the video the policeman IO claimed that he refused to obey the senior police officer to work in a particular fashion and in the social media post the IO in question stated that he wanted to tender resignation under duress.
However the SP Sirmour denied such allegations and issued rebuttal on the social media posts of IO. SP said that in matter of June 8, 2024, a local tractor driver of Kala Amb, his father and uncle were beaten badly by youths riding in a Scorpio from Punjab for not giving them a pass, after which on the complaint of the local youth, Kala Amb. He said that a case was lodged under section 341, 323, 147, 148, 149 IPC was registered against the youth of Punjab in Amb police station. The video of this incident also went viral.
The media communique by SP had stated that the investigation of this case was handed over to investigation officer HC Jasvir posted at Kala Amb police station, but local people were unhappy with the investigation and behavior of HC Jasvir.
In this regard the higher authorities were informed by the local people. When the file was checked by higher officials, many irregularities were found in the investigation. On which HC Jasveer was instructed to conduct the investigation regularly as per the law, stated the media note of the police.
Afterwards today in the media communique issued the police department stated that the force is making serious and concerted efforts to locate Head Constable Jasveer Saini. Updates on the investigation will be provided as more information becomes available, they stated.

Pertinent to mention that in the matter BJP has leveled serious accusations against Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, claiming that his administration has failed to maintain law and order in Himachal Pradesh. BJP President Rajiv Bindal cited three recent incidents to illustrate the deteriorating security situation in the state. Bindal first highlighted the case of a missing police head constable, who disappeared after a video went viral in which he accused a senior IPS officer of undue influence.
