Shimla, Sept 4
The India Meteorological Center, Shimla, has issued a severe weather warning for Mandi district, forecasting heavy rains, strong winds, and lightning on September 3 and 4, 2024. In light of this warning, residents and tourists are strongly advised to avoid visiting upper hilly areas, rivers, streams, and landslide-prone zones.
Despite such warnings, many people still venture into these dangerous areas, risking their lives. The authorities urge everyone to stay in safe places, preferably within their homes, and not to take any unnecessary risks during this period of inclement weather.
Gram Panchayat Pradhans, NGOs, trekkers, and local citizens are requested to disseminate this message widely to prevent any untoward incidents. High vigilance is advised across the district, and in case of any natural disaster or emergency, immediate reports should be made to the District Disaster Management Operation Center. The Administration of District Mandi has issued a high alert and is prepared to respond to any emergencies arising from the heavy rainfall. Stay safe, stay informed.
