High reaches of HP draped in a white blanket

Himachal Pradesh recorded a major spell of fresh snowfall as tourist resort Kufri, Narkanda, Fagu and many others high peaks got drapped in a white blanket. Also a light to moderate snow partly disrupted normal life in Manali and its sorrounding areas however tourist are dismayed as no snowfall was recorded at Shimla and Dalhousie so far.
The Met office spokesperson said that Chhitkul (Kinnuar) 75 I’m (2.6 ft) snow, Nichar, Rohtang Tunnel south Portal, Khadrala(Shimla) , Shikaridevi (Mandi),Kaza (Lahaul-Spiti) 60 I’m (two ft), Kothi (Kullu) 45 cm, Pooh & Sangla (Kinnaur) 41.5cm, Kalpa (Kinnaur) 39 cm. Kukumseri and Keylong 14 cm, tourist place Kufri 16 cm, Manali 2.5 cm, Solang (Kullu) 50cm, Tabo and Udaipur 8.5 cm, Khadapather, Theog and Narkanda (Shimla) 30 cm, Khadki 15 cm, Chopal ten cm, Kotgarh 12 cm. Dalhousie(Chamba) had 37 mm rain, Manali(Kullu):33 mm, Shimla Rampur(Shimla): 24 mm Seobagh, Dhaulakaun 14 mm (Sirmaur), Nahan 13 mm and Solan 10 cm, Sundernagar (Mandi)8 mm, Dharmshala 6 mm and Kangra five mm.
Light rainfall has also recorded in many places of Shimla, Kangra, Solan, Mandi and Kullu minimum temperature improvised in tribal areas however it was below normal in the rest of state.
Minimum temperature of Shimla was 1.6 and 1.5 degrees below normal, Keylong in Lahual Spiti minus four degrees and six degrees above normal, Kalpa was minus two , Dharamshala 7, Una 8.6, Nahan 9, Solan 6, Manali 0.4 ,Kangra 10.8 4.3, Mandi 3.6, Bilaspur 7.5,Hamirpur 10.7, Chamba 8.3, Dalhousie one and Kufri minus 0.1 and Narakanda minus 1.4.
The India Meterogical Department had issued a orange alert of widespread snow and rain in Himachal Pradesh warning people to save themselves from coldwave and power supply and roads are closed in many places in Tribal district.
Vehicular traffic has also been affected on Old Hindustan Tibet National Highway-5 at Kufri, Theog. and Narkanda and between Shimla-Jubbal Kotkhai, and Chopal and Rohru.
Inclement weather is continuing in the state as it was snowing in many high altitude areas of the state. After overnight windstorm it was overcast and mainly cloudy in the rest of state. Day temperature likely to plummets sharply due to inclement weather today .
