Shimla, Nov 25,
BJP MP and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut submitted her reply before a single bench of the Himachal Pradesh High Court on Monday. Counsel for the MP, Ajay Chauhan, presented the defense in an election petition regarding her election from the Mandi parliamentary constituency, as the matter was heard in the High Court on Monday.
The hearing took place in the court of Justice Sandeep Sharma in the Himachal Pradesh High Court. At the same time, the petitioner’s lawyer, Layak Ram Negi, sought time to file a rejoinder. The next hearing of the case is scheduled for four weeks later.
The petitioner, Layak Ram Negi, has demanded the cancellation of the Lok Sabha election for the Mandi seat, alleging that his nomination papers were wrongly rejected in the Lok Sabha elections.
According to the petitioner, Layak Ram, he could not contest the Lok Sabha elections due to the rejection of his nomination. He claims that the rejection was based on a minor error that should not have disqualified him.
The petitioner asserts that if he had been given the opportunity to contest the election, he might have been able to win the Lok Sabha seat.
He has pleaded for the cancellation of the Lok Sabha election for the Mandi seat so that fresh elections can be held for this constituency.
Layak Ram, a retired Forest Department employee, submitted the necessary No Due Certificate issued by the Forest Department along with his nomination form to the Election Officer.
However, during the nomination process, he was informed that he also needed to submit No Due Certificates for electricity, water, and telephone services, issued by the respective departments, for the government residence.
He was given time until the next day to submit these certificates, as the nomination papers were scheduled for scrutiny on May 15.
The next day, his submission of these certificates was not accepted. Consequently, the petitioner has raised the demand for the cancellation of the Lok Sabha elections held in the Mandi parliamentary constituency.
