Shimla, Nov 26,
The Himachal Pradesh government has refuted claims of undue pressure or discrimination in the promotion and posting of IPS officer Ilma Afroz. In response to concerns raised by former Chief Minister Shanta Kumar, a government spokesperson clarified that Afroz was appointed as SP Baddi out of turn due to her exceptional abilities and the urgent need to fill the position.
The spokesperson further explained that Afroz has recently gone on leave citing family reasons, specifically her mother’s ill health. The government has assured that the officer will return to duty at her convenience.
Dismissing rumors circulating on social media, the government emphasized its commitment to merit and transparency. It asserted that no one is above the law, and the government will continue to take strict action against those involved in illegal activities, regardless of their social status.
The spokesperson concluded by stating that the current government is focused on bringing about positive change and improving the lives of the people of Himachal Pradesh.
Noteworthy that on Monday, former CM Shanta Kumar had written a letter to HP CM Sukhu. He had raised serious concerns about the alleged discriminatory treatment meted out to Baddi Superintendent of Police (SP) Ilma Afroz by the Himachal Pradesh government. In a strongly worded letter to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the senior BJP leader Shanta Kumar had urged the CM to intervene and uphold his constitutional oath by ensuring justice for the officer.
