Shimla, Jan 20,
The Himachal Pradesh government on Monday notified the creation of the first exclusive cadre of teachers for CBSE-affiliated government schools in the state. The decision marks formal implementation of the Scheme for CBSE Affiliated Schools of Excellence across 130 government schools.
As per the notification issued by the Department of School Education, the Governor has approved the creation of 560 teaching posts of various categories in 100 CBSE-affiliated schools, under a newly framed Sub-Scheme for Creation of Sub Cadre of Teachers for CBSE Affiliated Schools in Himachal Pradesh. These posts will be filled separately from the existing state cadre, establishing a distinct CBSE teaching structure for the first time.
The posts include 97 Lecturers (School New) in Psychology, 93 in Fine Arts, 77 in Sociology, 76 in Music and Instrumental, 69 in English, 64 in Sanskrit, 51 in Geography, eight in Information Practices, one in Economics and 24 posts of Diploma in Physical Education, taking the total to 560. Vacancies arising in the parent cadre due to these postings will be filled through direct recruitment as job trainees.
In addition, the government has approved creation of one Special Educator post each in all 130 CBSE schools, along with one Chowkidar and one Sweeper per school, to be filled through direct recruitment as job trainees.
The notification also provides for engagement of 400 English teachers and 400 Mathematics teachers on a contractual basis through the HP Rajya Chayan Aayog.
These teachers will be engaged for five years on a fixed monthly honorarium of Rs 30,000 for ten months in a year, to teach a specially designed curriculum aimed at improving learning outcomes beyond the regular syllabus.
Further, services of yoga teachers, counsellor-cum-wellness teachers, catering supervisors and aayas will be hired on an outsourced basis, while 390 part-time multi-task workers will be engaged under the common PT-MTW policy.
The Education Department has also been authorised to create additional teaching and non-teaching posts in these schools, through rationalisation and shifting from surplus pools, to meet CBSE norms after government approval.
The move is being seen as a significant step towards institutionalising CBSE education in government schools and addressing long-standing concerns over ad-hoc staffing and academic consistency.
