The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab, in coordination with the Himachal Pradesh Police, has successfully apprehended four associates of the Harpreet Happo gang. These individuals were involved in the murder of Gurpreet Singh, a gym trainer, on January 31, 2025, in Kharar, SAS Nagar, Punjab. Acting on critical intelligence shared by both Punjab and Himachal Pradesh Police, the accused were traced to McLeodganj in Kangra district, where the swift and coordinated action of Kangra Police led to their successful capture. The Himachal Pradesh Police played a pivotal role in tracking and apprehending the suspects, ensuring that they were taken into custody without delay.

During the operation, the police recovered two country-made pistols, ten live rounds, two magazines, and the vehicle used in the crime, which was located in Dharamshala. The McLeodganj Police Station team played a crucial role in executing the arrests, demonstrating the effectiveness of Himachal Pradesh Police in handling high-profile criminal cases. The accused were wanted in a murder case registered at Police Station City Kharar, SAS Nagar, on February 1, 2025, and had been evading arrest since then. However, with the timely intervention and intelligence-sharing by Himachal Pradesh Police, their hideout was identified, leading to their swift capture.
Following their arrest, the accused were handed over to the Anti-Gangster Task Force of Punjab Police, which has taken them into custody for further investigation.
Preliminary findings suggest that they were assigned to carry out target killings in Punjab by their foreign-based gang handlers, and authorities are also probing any possible local connections in Kangra district, informed a spokesperson. Adding that, Himachal Pradesh Police remains at the forefront of ensuring public safety and has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order by actively cracking down on organized crime and the illegal possession of firearms.
