A 20-year-old resident of Sukahar village in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district has been arrested by Dehra police for allegedly possessing sensitive and potentially threatening content on his mobile phone.
The youth, identified as Abhishek Singh, a college dropout, was taken into custody following a surveillance operation based on confidential inputs. According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Mayank Choudhary, a special police team had been monitoring Singh’s activities for some time before making the arrest.
“Acting on credible information, our team conducted a raid at his residence on Wednesday. He was taken to the Dehra police station for questioning,” SP Choudhary informed.
During the interrogation, investigators reportedly found objectionable and sensitive data on his mobile device that could pose risks to national security. Subsequently, Singh was formally arrested.
He was presented before the local court on Thursday, which remanded him to police custody for further investigation.
Authorities stated that legal proceedings are underway and appropriate action will be taken as per law.
