HP constable paper leak case : CBI conducts search at 50 locations in seven states

The Central Bureau of Investigation today has conducted searches at around 50 locations across 07 States and UT (including Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Prdesh, Haryana etc) in an ongoing investigation of two cases related to question paper leak of the written examination for the post of Constables in Himachal Pradesh Police.
During the search campaign, incriminating documents have been recovered. CBI registered two cases on November 30, 2022 on the request of Himachal Pradesh Government & further notification by Govt of India, had taken over the investigation of the cases, earlier registered vide FIR No. 41, at Police Station, Gaggal & FIR No. 5, PS CID, Bharari (Shimla) by the State Police on the allegations of question papers leak of the written examination for the post of Constables in Himachal Pradesh Police, scheduled to be held on March 27, 2022.
During investigation and scrutiny of documents, alleged role of various middlemen based in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, etc was revealed. It was alleged that they were operating the nexus for examination papers leak in an organised manner.
A SIT of state police was also made by the BJP government and chargesheet was already moved in the court.
Later, the CBI has also moved application in the court to postpone hearing in the matter as agency is reprobing the case afresh.
It is worthwhile to mention that the SIT constitued by the state police did not book any state senior police officials in the matter.
Moreover, after formation of Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government another paper leak scam was unearthed by the state vigilance and anti-corruption bureau in which an employee of the Hamirpur based Himachal Pradesh Subordinate Selection Commission was found involved. While, probing the matter, State police also found that three other papers were also planned to be leaked in the future through HPSSC Hamirpur.
Noteworthy that State police handed over the constable paper leak scam probe to CBI during Jai Ram Thakur Government.
In a reply of query raised by this correspondent that constable paper leak case was taken over for investigation by the CBI during Assembly Election, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that Congress government would assist CBI to investigate the paper leak case however the state police had already probed the matter.
