Shimla, March 20 – HP generated addl rev of Rs 520 Cr. from liquor auction cum tender policy: CM
The Himachal Pradesh Government generated additional revenue of Rs 520 Crore by adopting the auction cum tendering policy for L-2 and L-14 liquor vends in the state. Making Suo-moto statement on the new excise policy Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that after changing the prevailing renewal policy of liquor vends, the excise department adopted auction cum tender policy. He said auctiona were held on March 16, 17 and 18, 2023. Adding, that the department succeeded to auction, most vends on increased rates, which resulted in an earning of Rs 520 Crore additional revenue.
He said that compared last year when the government had earned Rs 1296 Cr, this year 2023-24, the retail shops sale made a total revenue of 1815 Cr, which was Rs 520 Cr higher than previous auction.
He said that in Solan district got a hike of 31.69 pc over last, Kullu 46.11 pc, Hamirpur 23.45 pc, Kinnuar 66.05 pc, Lahaul Spiti and Pangi 24.77 pc, Kangra 35.51, Shimla 44.91 pc, Baddi police district 59.66, Bilaspur 25.20, Nurpur 36.22. Sirmaur 47.62 pc, Mandi 38.21 pc, Una 52.63 pc and Chamba 37.91 pc.
The Chief Minister said that overall, the state recorded a hike of 39.97 pc which is the highest ever. Sukhu said that if government would have adopted the old policy of vending it would resulted in a loss of 370 Crore.
Sukhu said that the Government has targeted generation of Rs 2800 Crore from the new excise policy, as another Rs 100 Crore is also likely from Milk cess on Liquor sale.
