HP Winder session: 107 charging stations planned across 6 green corridors in HP – State Govt
Shimla, Dec 19
The State Government has decided to establish Charging Stations on six green corridors in the first phase, mainly National Highways: Parwanoo-Nalagarh-Una-Hamirpur-Dehra-Amb-Mubarikpur-Sansarpur Terrace-Nurpur, Paonta-Nahan-Solan-Shimla, Parwanoo-Solan-Shimla-Rampur-Peo-Pooh-Tabo-Kaja-Losar, Shimla-Bilaspur-Hamirpur-Kangra-Nurpur-Banikhet–Chamba, Mandi-Jogindernagar-Palampur-Dharamshala-Kangra, and Kiratpur-Bilaspur-Mandi-Kullu-Manali-Keylong-Jing-Jing Bar.
This decision was in response to a question posed by Chaitanya Sharma, MLA from Gagret, regarding Electric Vehicle Charging Stations. In the reply, the State government informed that, to promote the faster adoption of Electric Vehicles in the State, the Transport Department directed all DCs in the State to identify land for the establishment of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations on identified Highways, designated as Green Corridors, based on travel patterns.
The reply stated that 53 Petrol Pumps and 54 Government sites on the six Green Corridors have been identified. Providing details of the Petrol Pumps where charging stations are proposed, they mentioned that 34 sites at Indian Oil petrol facilities, 12 at Bharat Petroleum, and 7 at Hindustan Petroleum facilities have been identified. In the case of 54 government stations, an Expression of Interest (EoI) has been floated for 45 locations on 28/11/2023 & 14/12/2023. They would be opened on 28/12/2023 & 28/01/2024, informed the State government reply.
Under the Chairmanship of the Principal Secretary (Transport) to the Govt. of H.P., Aryabhatta Geo Informatics & Space Application Centre (AGiSAC) has been consulted to conduct a field survey for data/coordinates and to check the feasibility of the land(s) identified by the DCs. After that, the Department of Transport, in consultation with District Administration, Urban Development, IOCL, HPTDC, PWD, etc., shortlisted these 107 locations, they added.
As far as Gagret is concerned, it does not fall in any of the above corridors; hence, at present, there is no location proposed for a charging station in the Gagret Assembly Constituency. However, the department is looking forward to establishing more charging stations in the State, and the possibilities to identify suitable land for charging stations at Gagret Assembly Constituency shall also be finalized, they concluded.
Sharma, along with others, also raised a query about a charging station being set up in his constituency at Gagret.
