Shimla, Feb 19,
The Joint Action Committee of HPSEB Employees, Engineers, and Pensioners has called off its proposed mass leave protest scheduled for February 24, 2025. The decision comes in compliance with the orders of the Hon’ble High Court, which has directed the state government and Electricity Board management to hold a hearing on the contentious employee rationalization process, informed r. Lokesh Thakur, Convener and Heera Lal Verma, Co-Convener of the front.
They said that the committee convened a virtual meeting today via Google Meet, chaired by former Electricity Board Member Er. A.S. Gupta, with representatives from all affiliated organizations in attendance. Expressing serious concerns over the rationalization process, the committee alleged that instead of improving efficiency, it is being used as a means to eliminate positions. They argued that this has led to an increased workload on employees and hampered promotion opportunities.
While the mass leave protest stands withdrawn, the District Electricity Panchayat will continue as per schedule, with the next meeting set for March 3, 2025, in Chamba, they stated.
The committee reaffirmed its key demands, including halting the rationalization process, restoring the old pension scheme, initiating fresh recruitment in the Electricity Board, ensuring the timely disbursement of retirement benefits to pensioners, and reinstating recently dismissed outsourced drivers.
Calling for urgent intervention, the committee urged the State Government and board management to address these pressing concerns without delay.
