Shimla, Feb 26,
The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has once again proven its excellence in public transportation by securing the prestigious Tyre Performance Award in the National Public Bus Transport Excellence Awards 2023-24. This honor was conferred by the Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASRTU) in recognition of HRTC’s outstanding tyre management and road performance, particularly in challenging hilly terrain.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 8, 2025, at JACARANDA, India Habitat Centre (IHC), Lodi Road, New Delhi. HRTC’s Managing Director and senior officials are expected to attend the event to receive the honors.
In addition to winning the Tyre Performance Award, HRTC also secured Runner-Up positions in three other crucial categories Digital Transactions Award, Vehicle Utilization Award and Employee Productivity Award.
Noteworthy is the fact that tyre performance in hilly terrains is a crucial factor from both safety and efficiency perspectives. Unlike the lower plains, tyre life in hilly regions is significantly shorter due to steep gradients, winding roads, and challenging driving conditions. In many cases, tyres in hilly areas deliver far less mileage compared to those used on flatter terrains, making effective tyre management vital for operational safety and cost efficiency.
HRTC has consistently demonstrated excellence in fleet management and operational efficiency over the years. Its continued success in multiple award categories reinforces its position as one of the best-performing state transport undertakings in India.
ASRTU’s Executive Director, Dr. T. Surya Kiran, extended his congratulations to HRTC and invited its representatives to the award ceremony. He acknowledged HRTC’s commitment to improving public transportation, adopting digital solutions, and optimizing vehicle performance even in the most demanding terrains.
