IAS officer files FIR over circulation of false and malicious letter aimed at damaging reputation
Shimla, Aug 23,
Chief Managing Director of a Himachal Pradesh government PSU and IAS officer has filed an FIR against an unknown individual(s) for creating and circulating a false and malicious letter aimed at damaging his reputation through social media.
First Information Report (FIR-180/23) was registered at Police Station West (Boileuganj) under sections 500 & 505(2) of IPC on August 22, 2023, on the complaint of the IAS officer.
The IAS officer stated in the first information that some unknown person produced a false and malicious letter and circulated it in different channels for damaging his image through social media.
It is worthwhile to mention here that soon after the letter went viral on August 19 Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s government also instituted a probe to find out the truth as his government had been also accused of raising party funds through proceed of illegal means from a power firm in lieu of handing contracts to it.

The alleged letter is reportedly addressed to CBI director Parveen Sood accusing the IAS officer of forcing employees of HPPCL to facilitate a power firm constructing a power project of the public sector unit.
Noteworthy that it is not the first occasion when such a letter surfaced in circulation on social media but similar complaints had gone viral on social media which had been addressed to the prime minister, also accused Congress government and its bureaucracy to implicit in the alleged activities.
Neither CBI nor any state agencies have yet responded to such a sensitive and wild allegation against the state bureaucracy and top officials affiliated with CMO, to give a clean chit to them, so far.
It is worthwhile to mention that hydro projects and smart meter installation multi-billion deals are not only simmering unrest among the Himachal Pradesh Power company employees and state electricity board but also consumers in the country especially in the Union Territory of Jammu as there even public is armed up against the government agencies.
The FIR accusations made by the officer indicate that the author of the letter is unknown, and also verify the fact that there is no person Anmol Singh Thakur as Assistant Manager exists in HPPCL. The content of the letter could not be verified as the complainant who is named in the letter did not reveal his actual name.
Pertinent to mention here that after taking over the charge recently, CBI director Parveen Sood has directed all the state and branches of Investigation agency to give more priority to scams related to financial frauds including bank loans and big graft charges.
However, CBI may take cognizance in the matter as funding or borrowing made by HPPCL also links to the Union government’s consent, and liabilities of loans from international agencies like ADB are also borne by the government of India besides the State government.
