Letter accuses Himachal CM of illegal fundraising

Amidst the grave natural catastrophe in the State, a shocking letter has emerged, pointing fingers at Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. The letter, reportedly composed by one Anmol Singh Thakur, alleges involvment of the Chief Minister, wherein funds are purportedly being funneled to the Congress party through a public sector power company and its Head of Department
Thakur claims to hold the position of Assistant Manager within the said public sector firm. However, upon investigation, the veracity of his identity remains elusive, casting doubt on the credibility of the letter’s authorship. The letter also lacks a specific date and is submitted as a complaint to the CBI director.
The accusations presented in the letter are nothing short of sensational. It implicates an IAS officer or MD of a public sector company in alleged corrupt practices, including the collection of substantial sums from contractors. The gravity of the situation intensifies as a prominent private power company is named, allegedly paying a staggering Rs 43.35 Crore to the mentioned IAS officer. Furthermore, the letter alleges that this same private company secured a new contract with an unusually large advance payment, raising suspicions of impropriety.
The allegations don’t stop at financial misconduct; they also touch on the treatment of employees within the public sector company. The letter claims that the IAS officer in question displays a harsh attitude towards employees, leading to suspension threats for those who fail to comply. More shockingly, the private power company is accused of engaging in unsavory activities, including deploying call girls, providing money, and offering gold gifts to the IAS officer.
This isn’t the first time the Chief Minister’s office has been embroiled in such allegations. An anonymous letter with similar claims recently went viral, although it didn’t directly implicate the Chief Minister until now.

Amid the swirling accusations and uncertain identities, central agencies have taken notice and initiated investigations into the matter. However, it remains unclear whether the CBI has officially received the complaint or if it’s merely intended to tarnish the image of the Chief Minister, the state bureaucracy, or the Congress party through media circulation.
Amid these claims, attention is drawn to the accused IAS officer’s recent activities. The officer has reportedly been working diligently to rescue state sector firms on the brink of bankruptcy due to massive loans undertaken for numerous power projects. This context adds a layer of complexity to the allegations, as the officer’s actions seem to be in direct contrast to the accusations made against them.
Interestingly, soon after taking office, the Chief Minister convened a meeting of the power unit and set ambitious targets for power companies to expedite the completion of power projects. Many of these projects had been plagued by delays, spanning five to six years beyond their original schedules.
Given the history of similar accusations targeting the Chief Minister, Congress party, and IAS officers, the veracity of these claims is undeniably dubious.Though now it is a matter of probe, but it may be possible that various factions may be employing sensational claims as a means to achieve their own agendas.
