IGMC new OPD block catches Fire, cause under investigation
Shimla, April 27
Reports have emerged of a fire breaking out in the newly dedicated OPD block which houses a canteen and doctors’ cabins.
The blaze reportedly started on the top floor of the building and has caused significant damage. While some media outlets have speculated that a gas cylinder blast or leak may have been the cause, an investigation will be needed to confirm this.
Certain social media posts indicate that around 3 cylinder blasted thus starting the fire in the canteen area. Meanwhile the State disaster authority has confirmed that the cause of fire may have a a LPG cylinder blast. Though they haven’t confirmed the time, when the fire broke out.
Reportedly the fire started early morning after 8 AM. Pertinent to mention, at this time the hospital activities start picking pace, as number of patients start visiting the premises for OPD and other purposes.
Social media has been flooded with pictures of the fire, and fire tenders have been deployed to the scene and the flames have been brought under control.Â
