Shimla, June 8
The Himachal Pradesh Jal Shakti Vibhag has seeked an FIR against three hydroelectric projects for continuously interrupting the flow of a Khud. It came to light from Nogli khad, because of which four major drinking water supply schemes got interrupted. Assistant Engineer Rampur of Jal Shakti Vibhag has sought action and requested FIR against HEP Jogni – I, Jogni – II and Kareri for allegedly continuously interrupting the flow in Khad.
He said that HEPs are bound under the terms & conditions of the agreement. Adding that HEPs cannot store or interrupt the water flow in the khad. Due to this action, the flow of four major drinking water supply schemes is poorly affected, he alleged. The department had also requested the project management(s) telephonically many times, but to no respite. The affected areas mostly are Rampur town, Nogli, Dakolar Shingla, Uru etc, he claimed.
Meanwhile the SDM assured necessary action on the complaint, shall be initiated. Pertinent to mention that private projects are blamed number of time for drying the discharge of water in the rivers and are also ruining aquatic life like fish in the rivers.
