Himachal Pradesh unit of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on BJP MP from Mandi and Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut, alleging that she had once again chosen “careless and undignified” words against women protesters despite facing widespread backlash over similar remarks during the farmers’ agitation.
In a statement, AIDWA state president Ranjana Jarait and state general secretary Falma Chauhan condemned Ranaut’s reported description of young women leading the “Cockroach Janata Party (CJP)” protest as a “gutter generation,” calling the remarks insulting, misogynistic and unbecoming of an elected Member of Parliament.
The organisation said Ranaut had failed to learn from the controversy triggered by her comments against women participating in the nationwide farmers’ movement.
It recalled that those remarks had sparked public outrage, legal proceedings and eventually led to a public apology from the actor.
AIDWA also referred to the incident in which Ranaut was slapped by a CISF constable at Chandigarh airport, saying the assault was allegedly linked to resentment over her statements on women farmers participated in similar protest during farm law agitation.

“Despite facing such consequences over her previous remarks, Kangana Ranaut has again chosen to use offensive language against women protesters,” the statement said, adding that an elected representative should display restraint and dignity while expressing political differences.
The women’s organisation said it was ironic that Ranaut had described the present generation in derogatory terms when it was the same generation of voters that had elected her from the Mandi parliamentary constituency.
Instead of making controversial statements whenever Parliament is in session, she should raise issues concerning the people of her constituency, it added.
AIDWA further said public personalities, particularly those who have moved from the film industry into constitutional office, carry greater responsibility in public discourse.
It said Bollywood celebrities entering politics must recognise that political debate demands accountability and respect for democratic dissent, especially when commenting on women and young people participating in protest movements.
The organisation urged the BJP MP to maintain the dignity of her office and refrain from using language that demeans women or democratic movements.
