The cold-wave further plummets Mercury in Himachal Pradesh as night temperature of Kaza in Lahaul-Spiti district was recorded minus 17 degrees, coldest this winter, informed a local spokesperson.
The Met Office also issued a cold-wave warning forecast informing about the sudden decline of night temperatures in low hills and plains. Also for moderate to dense fog at isolated pockets in low hills and plains. Cold- wave too, is likely to occur at isolated pockets over plains & low hills.
Night temperatures are expected to keep near freezing points in Bilaspur, Hamirpur, DhaulaKaun(Sirmaur), Una in the next 24hrs. Dry weather conditions likely to be continue in the state till the next 48hrs.
Minimum temperature of Kukamseri in Lahaul-Spiti district was minus 7.6 degrees, Keylong minus 7, Kalpa (Kinnaur) minus 2.4, Manali & Sundernagar (Mandi) minus 0.4, Solan and Mandi zero , Una one, Chamba, Hamirpur 1.7, Narkanda 2.4, Shimla and Bilaspur 3.5, Dalhousie 3.7, Kufri & Kangra 4 degree and Dharmshala five degrees respectively.
Due to recent snow, freezing temperatures and formation slippery frost or ice, the District Administration has closed Manali,-Kaza national highway and Manali-Leh Highway beyond Darcha however vehicular traffic are still playing from Manali-Rohtang all weather tunnel upto Darcha.
