Kalpa, Aug 13,
After a week-long suspension following the tragic death of two devotees and weather-related damage to the trekking route, the Kinnaur Kailash Yatra is set to restart on August 13, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kalpa Amit Kalthaik confirmed.
For the first two days — August 13 and 14 — registrations will be conducted only in offline mode, beginning at 6:00 am, with a cap of 250 pilgrims per day. From August 15 onwards, both offline and online registrations will be available, with a daily limit of 100 pilgrims each for online and offline modes, plus 50 under the Kinnaur Trekking Association (KTA) quota. Online booking slots for August 15 will open at 2:30 pm on August 13.
The SDM clarified that all other procedures will remain in line with earlier-issued guidelines.
The Yatra was halted on August 6 after heavy rains battered the region, leaving the route damaged and over 460 pilgrims stranded at Milling Khatta and adjoining areas. The stranded devotees were later rescued safely by ITBP teams in a large-scale evacuation operation.
