Manoj Kumar appointed Party SC unit president for Shimla Rural

Himachal Pradesh Congress has appointed Manoj Kumar, former Pradhan of Chanog Gram Panchayat and a senior social worker, as president of the Party Schedule Caste unit for the Shimla Rural Assembly constituency.
The appointment has been welcomed by Congress workers and supporters in the area. Manoj Kumar is known among the people for his extensive mass contact and active involvement in grassroots affairs.
Kumar has long been associated with Panchayati Raj and organisational activities. He served as Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Chanog from 2001 to 2011 and again from 2021 to 2026. He also served as Deputy Pradhan of the panchayat from 2011 to 2015.
Besides his elected responsibilities, Kumar has held several organisational positions, including State Vice-President of the Pradhan Parishad, General Secretary of the District Shimla Pradhan Parishad, Secretary of the Youth Congress and General Secretary of the Panchayati Raj Organisation, Himachal Pradesh.
His appointment is being seen as significant in view of his long grassroots experience and mass contact. His responsibilities will include strengthening the SC Department at the constituency level, connecting members of the Scheduled Caste community with the Congress organisation and taking up their concerns at appropriate forums.
Expressing gratitude after his appointment, Kumar thanked Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh, Rajya Sabha MP and in-charge of the Himachal Pradesh Scheduled Castes Department Karamveer Bodh, Congress President Vinay Kumar, former Congress MLA Sohan Lal, HPCC SC Department chairman Naresh Chauhan and other party leaders and workers for their support.
Kumar said he would discharge the responsibility entrusted to him with dedication and honesty. He said he would work at the grassroots level to strengthen the organisation, highlight issues affecting the SC community and create greater awareness about government welfare schemes and rights.
Congress workers and supporters in Shimla Rural congratulated Kumar and expressed confidence that his organisational experience and strong public connect would help strengthen the party at the grassroots.
