Mercury above, Rain & Snowfall below normal in HPÂ -IMD

Mercury in the state of Himachal Pradesh may remain above normal, whereas rain and snow during the upcoming summer season (March to May) is likely to be below normal, informed a spokesperson of IMD in a seasonal outlook issued for Himachal Pradesh today.
It said that the state is likely to continue to get warm, as above normal Maximum & Minimum temperatures in March 2023 are likely over most parts. Not only March, the IMD forecast indicated that during the upcoming summer season (March to May) Maximum & Minimum temperatures may remain higher than 1.5 degrees above normal.
They also warned about the enhanced probability of occurrence of Heat wave during March to May, likely over some regions in Himachal Pradesh.
The Nationwide precipitation for March 2023 is most likely to remain normal I.e 83— to 117 per cent of long average period ( LPA), however it may remain below normal (-20 pc to -59 pc ) in the hill state.
The state received deficient (-71%) rainfall in February month i.e. from 01.02.2023 to
28.02.2023, they informed.
In the month of February, Maximum temperature broke all time high record in Shimla, Solan and Bhuntar in months of Febuary as the State remained extremely warm.
