Shimla, Oct 23
State Administration today said that out of the eleven missing tourists seven died of hypothermia and two still missing have been identified. Adding that bodies of two trekkers were found on Friday in Himachal side on state -Uttrakhand border.
State Emergency Operation Centre spokesperson Sudesh Mokta released list of deceased, missing and injured in the mishap which took place between Oct 17 and Oct 19 as they were trapped in heavy snowfall or blizzard at 17332ft high Lamkhaga passes while trekking from Harsil of Uttarkashi district of Uttrakhand to Chitkul area of Sangla Tehsil of Kinnuar district in Himachal.
He said that as many as 11 trekkers who were on trekking route from Harsil to Chitkul include seven deceased identified as Anita Rawat (38) D/o Sh. Jyoti Singh R/o M 95 Harinagar, West Bengal, Tanmay Tiwari(30), S/o R.C. Tiwari, R/o Kishan Nagar, Kolkata, Vikas Makal (33) son of Swapan Maikal Raghabpur Nepalganj South-24 Parganas (WB), Saurabh Gosh (34) S/o Sushil Ghosh, R/o Nepalganj, South 24 (WB), Subhayan Das (28) S/o Kajal Das, R/o 10/1A Nepal, Bhatacharia G Streak Kalighat (WB), Richard Mandal (31) (WB), S Upender (22) from Uttrakashi.
Missing persons are Sukenh Manjhi(43) From WB, Gyan Chand (33) from Uttrakashi
Injured are Devendra Chauhan, S/o Hariram, R/o Village Gangad, Thana Mary, Uttarkashi. (company guide) and Mithun Dari, S/o Swar Badal Ch Dari, R/o Prasadpur, Post-Andhar Manik, South 24 Pargans, WB.
Press release said that the two trekkers are still missing. It said that 32 ITBP jawans participated in Rescue Operation in Himachal.
The Information received here on Friday from SHO Sangla said that bodies of two missing trekkers, in this incident had been recovered from HP State side (Kinnaur) moreover five dead bodies and 02 injured persons were recovered by the team of Uttrakhand.
