Mother Bear and Cub electrocuted in Dalhousie of Himachal Pradesh

A tragic event occurred late Thursday night in the Dalhousie area of Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh, resulting in the deaths of a female bear and her cub due to electrocution. The incident unfolded when the bears were moving through a forest, and the cub, driven by curiosity, climbed up a transformer pole. Tragically, the cub was electrocuted upon contact with the pole. In a desperate attempt to rescue her cub, the mother bear also climbed the transformer and met the same fate.
On Friday morning, local authorities discovered the lifeless bodies of the mother bear and her cub. In response, the Wildlife Department formed a committee to investigate the incident. The committee, which included officials from both the Wildlife and Forestry Departments, conducted a post-mortem examination of the animals. The entire process was documented on video to ensure transparency and to prevent any misuse of the remains.
The remains of the bears were cremated under strict supervision. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for enhanced safety measures in areas inhabited by wildlife.
