NEET-UG paper leak in many States of India, SFI seeks resignation of HR Minister
Shimla, May 12,
The alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak has snowballed into a Nationwide controversy, with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registering an FIR and launching a multi-state probe into what is being termed a serious compromise of India’s medical entrance examination system.
The scandal has triggered outrage among students and parents, while student organizations have intensified protests against the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Union government.
Acting on a complaint from the Department of Higher Education under the Union Ministry of Education, the CBI on Monday registered a case regarding alleged irregularities and leakage of the NEET-UG 2026 examination paper conducted on May 3.
The FIR includes charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, criminal breach of trust, theft and destruction of evidence under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), besides offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Public Examination Prevention of Unfair Means Act, 2024.
According to the complaint, confidential examination material was allegedly circulated before the examination, indicating the possible involvement of an organized network. Special CBI teams have been dispatched to various parts of the country to investigate the scale of the leak and identify those responsible.
Meanwhile, the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) staged strong protests, accusing the NTA of repeated failures and mismanagement.
The organization alleged that questions carrying nearly 600 marks out of the total 720 were leaked in advance, including around 120 Chemistry questions reportedly circulated verbatim.
SFI Himachal Pradesh State President Anil Thakur said the NEET paper leak had shattered the confidence of lakhs of students and exposed the failure of the centralized examination system. He demanded resignation of Union Human resources minister.
“The Modi government’s centralization policy has strengthened examination mafias and promoted the commercialization of education through costly coaching institutions.
Students from ordinary and middle-class families are the biggest victims of this corruption and negligence,” he said.
