Shimla/Hamirpur, Dec 17
The Board of Governors (BoG) of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hamirpur has unanimously decided to reject the resignation of Registrar Dr. Archana Nanoti, acknowledging her exceptional contributions and pivotal role in the institute’s progress.
Dr. Nanoti had submitted her resignation on December 12, citing personal reasons. However, sources indicate that internal politics within the institute may have influenced her decision to step down, alongside family issues.
By rejecting her resignation, the Ministry of Education has signaled its intent to maintain the integrity of NIT Hamirpur. Reports suggest that the ministry is considering a transfer policy for NIT faculty to address internal conflicts and prevent entrenched groups from disrupting institutional harmony.
Under Dr. Nanoti’s leadership, NIT Hamirpur has achieved numerous milestones. According to an official statement, the institute successfully recruited 129 faculty members and 55 non-teaching staff between July and August 2023. Long-pending approval from the Council of Architecture (COA) for the Architecture Department, delayed since 2018, was also secured. The institute’s NIRF ranking improved from 128 to the 101-110 category, and student placement reached over 80%.
Dr. Nanoti resolved critical administrative challenges, including clearing CAG audit objections, addressing income tax issues, and managing legal and arbitration cases effectively. She streamlined procurement processes through the GeM portal and ensured optimal utilization of funds under OH35 and OH36. She also led the successful organization of Hill’ffair 2024, a prominent cultural event.
During her tenure, the institute hosted training sessions on RTI and GeM and organized expert lectures on workplace spirituality, research methodologies, and women empowerment. Dr. Nanoti guided a PhD scholar at GTU in August 2024 and secured approval for a patent. She also served as a Faculty Promotion Committee member at NIT Uttarakhand and represented the Ministry of Education in promotion interviews at NIT Jalandhar.
Dr. Nanoti’s efforts significantly enhanced student welfare and campus life. Initiatives such as “YourDost.com” online counseling, the appointment of professional counselors, yoga and meditation programs, and sports training were introduced. Cultural and spiritual enrichment programs, including Art of Living and Brahma Kumaris sessions, improved campus discipline.
In January 2024, she played a key role in organizing the “Viksit Bharat” program during the President’s visit. Additionally, she delivered lectures on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s vision of unity at SP University, Mandi, and conducted sessions on workplace spirituality for newly inducted staff members.
Dr. Nanoti’s dynamic leadership has positioned NIT Hamirpur as a center of academic, administrative, and cultural excellence. The BoG’s decision to retain her underscores a commitment to sustaining this trajectory of growth and progress.
