Shimla, Apr 2
The Shimla Nagrik sabha has announced a protest against the growing traffic jams in the city. The forum believes that Shimla has become the epicenter of traffic congestion, causing significant distress to the public over the past year.
The coordinators, Sanjay Chauhan and Vijendra Mehra, have completely rejected the One Minute Traffic Plan, stating that it has only exacerbated the traffic situation in the city. Despite the implementation of this plan, major areas of the city continue to suffer from severe congestion.
The SNS has issued a warning that if the traffic situation in Shimla does not improve within the next three days, they will take to the streets in protest. They have threatened to surround the District Commissioner (DC) and Superintendent of Police (SP) offices and block traffic at key points.
The traffic congestion has created an environment of chaos in Shimla, with people unable to fulfill their duties and children unable to reach school on time. Many private bus routes have also been disrupted, resulting in substantial financial losses for operators and employees. Additionally, commuters are forced to cram into overcrowded buses like cattle.
The assembly has accused administrative and police officials of inaction in addressing the issue. Traffic officers have also been criticized for their silence on the flaws of the One Minute Traffic Plan.

The group of citizens assert that if the traffic plan is not rectified, they will protest on the streets. They are prepared to demonstrate against officials and block traffic at key points, including the Victory Tunnel, if necessary.

This one minute plan is absolutely ridiculous.
There is no coordination between traffic police and they have only shifted the choke points to suburbs while the existing choke points continue to exist as bottlenecks because SP Shimla wants to be in limelight.
Moreover fake information about number of vehicles entering Shimla during peak tourist season has caused huge loss of business. While SP Shimla claimed record number of tourists entering Shimla, the hotel were virtually at the lowest occupancy clearly indicating that such information was planted to get fake laurels by the police.
Disgusting management of traffic across the city.
