Shimla, July 22
An orange alert has been issued for the districts of Kangra, Mandi, and Chamba due to heavy monsoon rains. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in New Delhi warns that there is a low to moderate chance of flash floods in certain areas of these districts over the next 24 hours, until 11:30 IST on July 23, 2024. Heavy rainfall may cause water to run off and flood areas with already saturated soils and low-lying regions, hey warned.
Residents in these districts should stay updated with the latest weather information and warnings. It’s best to avoid traveling or staying in low-lying areas prone to flooding. Keep emergency supplies ready, including water, food, medications, and important documents. Follow local authorities’ instructions and be ready to evacuate if needed, noted the advisory.
Meanwhile temperatures remained relatively stable with no significant fluctuations in the past 24 ours. The lowest minimum temperature was recorded at Kukumseri at 10.1°C, while Bhuntar experienced the highest maximum temperature at 37.1°C.
