Shimla, Sept 10,
The hill town of Parwanoo in Solan district has secured the second position in the Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan-2025 under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), in the category of cities with a population of less than three lakh.
Along with the recognition, Himachal Pradesh has also been awarded a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh, which will be utilized to further strengthen clean air initiatives in the State.
The award was conferred by Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (EF&CC) Bhupender Yadav and Minister of State Kirti Vardhan Singh at a ceremony held at Indira Paryavaran Bhawan, New Delhi, on September 9.
A spokesperson of the Himachal Pradesh Pollution Control Board (HPPCB) informed that the achievement was made possible through consistent efforts under the vision and leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. He said the recognition highlights the State government’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental protection.
The spokesperson added that the ranking reflects the dedicated efforts of the HPPCB, local administration and, most importantly, the active participation of Parwanoo’s citizens who contributed towards cleaner air and a healthier environment.
