Shimla, Sept 11
Shimla police used a light cane charge on protesters at the Sanjauli-Dhali Tunnel on Wednesday afternoon after agitators removed barricades. Around 500 right-wing protesters, mostly ABVP student activists, attempted to dismantle the barricades that security forces had set up at both ends of the tunnel to prevent assembly in the Sanjauli outskirts of Shimla.
Reports indicate that about 500 protesters gathered at both ends of the Dhalli twin tunnel, which was blocked by security forces to prevent gatherings near the shrine.

Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Gandhi was contacted to verify the information. However, following the protest, security forces facing challenges in maintaining law and order.
Meanwhile, thousands of students from Loreto Convent Tara Hall, Sacred heart convent and Chapslee School were forced to remain at school due to roadblocks towards Sanjauli, Shimla. The school management stated that students would be allowed to leave only after the administration clarifies the situation in the city.

City administration when contacted stated that barring Sanjauli which has been barricaded from all four sides (St Beads college end, Govt college Sanjauli end, Chalaunthi bye pass end and Dhalli bus stand end), all roads of Shimla city are operating normally. They ensured that soon even the students struck in schools will also be transported home safely.
Noteworthy that due to a incident of a common fight which occurred in the Sanjauli area on previous Friday, protests ignited and raised concerns about the ongoing construction of a mosque in the locality. Later a procession was staged mostly by right wing activists in the area demanding demolition of the Mosque. On remaining unheard, a call for another procession was given for today, after which the current situation has emerged. As per latest information right wing activists have been reported to be leading the protest.

Perhaps the journalist reporting should explain every time they update this news of what these ‘protestors’ are protesting about. And then also have the decency to write that what the constitution of india guarantees its citizens. Also how BJP is using this opportunity to influence simple
minded people of how the other religions are coming to get them. Very convenient of this newspaper to stay on the sideline and make use of words like protestors to confuse people that these goons are asking for something right.
Thanks for the feedback. We have been covering the information in-depth for the past one week. As required we have updated a few links in the post which can hep you understand the root cause of the problem.
