Shimla, Dec 14
HP Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu distributed cabinet portfolio late night on Tuesday which seems, is broadly divided into three groups.
A notification issued last night by Chief Secretary R D Dhiman confirmed that CM would hold the cabinet berth of Finance, GAD, Home Planning & Personel.
Deputy chief minister Mukesh Agnihotri was allotted Jalshakti Vibhag, Transport and Language, Arts and Culture.
The two have been already sworn as CM and Deputy CM on December 2022, whereas the CoMs are to be named yet. The State government notification clearly indicates that Sukhu has kept the rest of portfolios to be given to other ten members of council of ministers. The left out portfolio include Public Works Department, Urban Development, Industry, Minning, Horticulture , Education, Health Agriculture and Environment, Forest & Climate change and public welfare etc.
The new inductions in CoMs is likely to be made soon as party high command would take the last call over the choice of Chief minister to balance the power equations broadly divided in three major poles including SSS, State Congress Chief Pratibha Singh and Dy CM Mukhesh Agnihotri who is considered the important link between rival group.
The Government is currently in formation stage as minute balance is expected to be taken care while allotment of cabinet berth.
Meanwhile, Sukhhu in the first 2 days of government, inducted three close aids, who are also given cabinet rank.
Sukhu is expected to keep no front outside the power corridors so that the power tug of war can be ended. The same is being witnesses since last few Goverment(s) irrespective of whatever party comes to power in the state. However, there seems no danger to Sukhu Goverment, but party high command has learnt lot due to missing power several times in last eight years attributed to horse trading and high vulernable poltical leadership which has ditched the party several times.
