Rain, thunderstorms likely across Himachal today
Shimla, Sept 17,
Himachal Pradesh is likely to witness widespread light to moderate rainfall on Thursday, with one or two intense spells expected at several places, according to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla.
Thunderstorms and lightning are likely at isolated places in Chamba, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Bilaspur and Hamirpur, while intense spells of rain are also expected over Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti. Una, Kangra, Sirmaur and Solan may receive light to moderate rain at many places, with isolated intense spells accompanied by thunderstorms or lightning.
For Shimla city and adjoining areas, light to moderate rain with one or two intense spells and thunderstorms/lightning is considered very likely during the forecast period of 8:30 am to noon.
The weather office has cautioned about possible localised landslides, waterlogging, slippery roads, traffic congestion and partial damage to vulnerable structures. Residents have been advised to avoid landslide-prone areas and exercise caution near rivers, streams and other water bodies.
