Shimla, May 27
Reportedly, Red apricot has grown for the first time in Himachal. It is said to help fight cancer and also has anti-ageing propoerties. Sanjeev Chauhan, a gardener in the Shimla district, has grown red-coloured apricot (Red Bolero Apricot), a Spanish variety. This gardener is from Bakhol village of Kotkhai in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh.
Its size is larger than that of the typical apricot, and its shelf life is also ten days more than the yellow one. The anti-ageing property in Red Apricot Red Bolero helps remove wrinkles from the face and prevent premature ageing. The phenolic acid found in it stops cancer cells from growing. That is, this variety helps fight cancer.
In addition to iron, potassium and magnesium, antioxidants, vitamin carotene, and vitamins C and E are also found. Gardener Sanjeev Chauhan informed that in the year 2020, he had imported Red Bolero and Rubil varieties of apricot plants from Italy. After two years of planting, it has started bearing fruit.
He said it would take about ten more days for the Red Bolero to be fully ready. Due to the large size, their demand will be more in the market. Due to the longer shelf life, its transportation will also be more manageable. Its outer skin is dark red.
Apricot is entirely organic, as there is no spray in it. Apricots can also be eaten dried, and their kernels are also sweet.
