Shimla, Sept 25,
A recent video shot inside the Sanjauli mosque by Shoaib Jamai, spokesperson of the Asaduddin_Owaisi party, All India Muslim League (AIIML), has ignited controversy, with right-wing organizations voicing their outrage. The video, allegedly filmed yesterday, has raised tensions in the region, with accusations of Jamai defying prohibitory orders and sparking unrest.
A right-wing group filed a formal complaint with the Sanjauli police, demanding an FIR be lodged against Jamai. The complaint questions how the AIIML spokesperson was allowed to enter the sealed mosque, which has been under police surveillance since September 2, 2024. The complainants argue that access to the mosque has been restricted to the public, yet Jamai not only gained entry but also filmed a video, allegedly with inflammatory remarks targeting similar multistory buildings in the vicinity.
The complainants called for immediate legal action, stating, “If the mosque is sealed, how did Jamai manage to enter and shoot the video? Why are common citizens denied entry, while outsiders are allowed in to provoke sentiments?”
In response, various left-leaning organizations have appealed for calm, urging the public to preserve communal harmony. In a press conference, representatives expressed concern over right-wing groups targeting minority communities, accusing them of disrupting peace in the state.
The police, meanwhile, have denied claims of illegal migrants or vendors from foreign countries being involved, countering right-wing allegations.
With rising tensions surrounding the incident, the state administration is under pressure to manage the growing divide and maintain law and order amidst the mounting political rhetoric.
