Shimla, Aug 1
Following a devastating cloudburst near the Samej Khad(Rivulet) hydro project in Jhakri area of Rampur subdivision, the Shimla district administration had released a list of 32 missing individuals, now updated to 36 as of Thursday morning.
The rescue efforts have been promptly initiated by the Sub-Divisional Administration of Rampur, along with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and Home Guards.
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap informed that SDM Nishant Tomar is on-site, overseeing the rescue operations. The incident, which occurred in a remote and difficult-to-access area, has significantly hampered transportation. Rescue teams are trekking two kilometers on foot, carrying necessary equipment to the affected site due to road closures.
The administration’s swift response included the deployment of a contingent from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Special Home Guard to bolster the rescue mission. According to Deputy Commissioner Kashyap, all teams are working in unison to ensure a coordinated rescue effort. Essential services, including ambulances, have been integrated into the operation to provide immediate medical assistance where needed.
As the search for the missing individuals continues, the district administration is making every effort to ensure their safe recovery. The rescue teams are facing challenging conditions but remain determined to bring relief to the affected area. The community is urged to remain hopeful and cooperate with the ongoing operations.
In the aftermath of this natural disaster, the focus remains on the rescue and relief efforts. The administration’s prompt action and the dedication of the various rescue teams underscore the commitment to the safety and well-being of the residents in the affected region. The situation is being closely monitored, and updates will be provided as the rescue efforts progress.
