Shimla, Nov 26,
Shimla district administration has notified temporary traffic restrictions across the Dhalli sector from 29 November 2025 to 16 January 2026, as the Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam undertakes extensive pipeline-laying work. District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap issued the order, confirming that movement of vehicles will remain suspended daily between 11 AM and 4 PM, and again from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, on specific stretches that will be taken up in phases.
The first phase will affect the road from Dhalli Tunnel (West Portal) to Bhattakufer NH between 29 November and 15 December. Once this segment is completed, restrictions will shift to the stretch between Dhalli Tunnel (West Portal) and Cemetery Road, which will remain closed from 15 December to 29 December. The final phase, scheduled from 29 December to 16 January, will cover the route from Dhalli Tunnel (near Sabzi Mandi) to Dhingu Mata Temple Road.
Ensuring uninterrupted pedestrian safety and minimal inconvenience has been prioritised. The administration has directed the executing agency to maintain daily cleanliness of the affected roads, remove debris promptly, display adequate safety signboards, and deploy traffic marshals at all intervention points. Ambulances will be given free passage throughout, and special attention has been sought for the safety of elders and school-going children who frequently use these corridors.
In a separate development, the District Disaster Management Authority will conduct a mock drill at the Jakhoo Ropeway on 27 November at 11 AM to assess emergency readiness and safety mechanisms. Residents and commuters have been urged to extend cooperation as these temporary restrictions are aimed at strengthening essential civic infrastructure and improving long-term service delivery in the Dhalli region.
