Shimla police FIR Chirgaon resort custody case
Shimla, Feb 26,
A high-voltage inter-state police operation in Shimla district has taken a legal turn after local authorities registered an FIR over allegations that three individuals were forcibly taken away from a resort in Chirgaon by teams from outside the state.
According to an official statement issued by Shimla Police, the matter surfaced on Wednesday morning when information was received from Chanshul Resort in Chirgaon. The resort management alleged that a group of individuals, dressed in civilian clothes and travelling in vehicles bearing outside state registration numbers, had taken away three persons staying at the property. The complainant further claimed that electronic equipment, including a Digital Video Recorder (DVR), was also removed.
Treating the complaint with urgency, Shimla Police initiated swift action to verify the claims and ensure legal compliance. In coordination with Solan Police, multiple teams were deployed and the vehicles in question were intercepted at different points, including Shoghi, ISBT Shimla and Dharampur.
Upon verification, it emerged that the individuals involved were police personnel from Delhi and Haryana. They had reportedly been tracking the three persons and had taken them into custody in connection with a case registered in Delhi.
However, given the nature of the allegations and to ensure that due process was followed, Shimla Police produced all concerned individuals before the competent local court. The three detainees were also taken for medical examination at Ripon Hospital, Shimla, in line with established legal procedures. (Shimla police FIR Chirgaon resort custody case)
The ACJM-II Court in Shimla subsequently granted a transit remand of approximately 18 hours, allowing the Delhi–Haryana Police teams to proceed with the accused towards Delhi after completing all formalities.
Meanwhile, acting on the complaint filed by the resort owner, Police Station Chirgaon registered FIR No. 18/2026 dated February 25 under relevant legal provisions. The investigation will examine allegations of forced custody and removal of equipment, even as the role and conduct of the outside police teams comes under scrutiny.
Shimla Police, in its statement, emphasized its commitment to prompt response, strict adherence to due process, and coordinated action with other state agencies, stating that all actions must remain within the legal framework while maintaining public confidence.
