Shimla, May 2
The Shimla District Police has secured a conviction in a sensitive child protection case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
The verdict was delivered by the Additional Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge (Fast Track Court, Rape/POCSO), Shimla in case number 50/2024, registered at Police Station Sunni under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Section 10 of the POCSO Act.
The accused, Jai Prakash alias J.P., a 46-year-old lecturer from Karyali village, was convicted and sentenced to six years rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 10,000.
Police attributed the conviction to a thorough and lawful investigation, timely evidence collection, and effective prosecution.
