Shimla, May 2
The Shimla District Police has secured a conviction in a sensitive child protection case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
The verdict was delivered by the Additional Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge (Fast Track Court, Rape/POCSO), Shimla in case number 50/2024, registered at Police Station Sunni under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Section 10 of the POCSO Act.
The accused, Jai Prakash alias J.P., a 46-year-old lecturer from Karyali village, was convicted and sentenced to six years rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 10,000.
Police attributed the conviction to a thorough and lawful investigation, timely evidence collection, and effective prosecution.

Authorities also ensured protection of the victim’s identity throughout the proceedings, reiterating their commitment to strict and sensitive handling of crimes against children.
