The Himachal Pradesh Government has decided to auction the limestone mines for cement plant by splitting the tenders in three parts to reduce the upfront cost of the auction.
This was stated by the Industry Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan while replying to a supplementary query raised by Hans Raj and Deep Raj. Replying to a query about ‘Alsindhi’ cement plant. The letter of intent was signed by the Lafarge company, said the Minister but thecompany did not comply with the condition of LOI and now the matter is pending in the High court.
He said that the auction of Alsindhi cement plant happened in 2007 at the cost of Rs 908 Crore . The company has to complete codal formality and it took forest clearance in the first stage. The project was annulled as the firm could not complete the formalities after two years.
He said that lime stones could not be auctioned in Gumma and Alasandhi as the upfront cost of the Gumma and Aslindi was fixed at Rs 200 Cr . Minister said that no firm wants to invest in remote areas without ensuring the viability of such cement plants.
He said that now the State has requested the Government of India to split the limestones reserve into small parts to reduce the upfront cost of the mines.
