Strategic measures taken to address fuel supply in Himachal
Shimla, Jan 2
The Himachal Pradesh Government stated on Tuesday that agencies are addressing the scarcity of petrol and diesel due to the dry stock incidents in the state. In response to the increasing queues at petrol pumps, Deputy Commissioners in Solan and Una are actively monitoring the situation and engaging in discussions with transporters.
Director of Civil Supply, R K Gautam, mentioned that on January 1, 2024, 43 tankers were dispatched from the Nalagarh HPCL terminal to various districts, including Bilaspur, Chamba, Hamirpur, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmour, Solan, and Una. Today, 750 KL or 65 vehicles have been dispatched, and at the Una terminal, 116 dealer vehicles were dispatched under proper police escort.
Looking ahead, more dealer vehicles are scheduled to be dispatched across the state. To improve availability, the dead stock at each petrol pump, currently at 2000 liters, has been ordered to be lowered to 1000 liters, he stated.
Noteworthy that for transporting petroleum products involves two types of tankers: those owned by transport unions and those owned by dealers.
