Shimla, Dec 24
In a surprising turn of events, the capital city of Shimla and most of the middle hills of Himachal Pradesh witnessed the second dose of winter magic on Monday, as fresh snowfall blanketed the region.
The unexpected snowfall began early morning and continued into the day and night, transforming the landscape into a picturesque winter wonderland. Shimla received seven centimeters of snow, while Kalpa in kinnaur also recorded the same amount till the time of filing this report.
While the sudden snowfall brought joy to many, it also disrupted normal life and travel in several areas. Roads became slippery, and some were even blocked due to heavy snow accumulation. Despite the challenges, tourists and locals alike are reveling in the winter wonderland. Snowball fights, snowman building, and capturing the scenic beauty are the order of the day.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted more snowfall in the coming days, particularly in the higher reaches of the state.
Authorities are urging residents and tourists to stay updated on weather conditions and follow advisories for their safety.
This unexpected snowfall has added an extra layer of charm to the winter season in Himachal Pradesh, reminding everyone of the unpredictable and captivating nature of the region’s weather.
