Three high-end hotels along Kiratpur-Manali four-lane to boost tourism in Himachal
Shimla, June 12
In a recent review meeting of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC), Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced plans to open three high-end hotels along the Kiratpur-Manali four-lane. The initiative aims to cater to tourists and commuters, offering modern facilities and enhancing the overall tourism experience in the state.
In a media communiqué it was informed that the decision to establish these hotels comes as the government recognizes the significance of developing infrastructure to promote tourism in Himachal Pradesh. With the impending completion of the four-lane road, the Chief Minister expects a substantial increase in tourist inflow, stated the brief. To ensure a comfortable and safe stay for visitors, the state government will provide all necessary amenities.
Here it is pertinent to mention since the opening of Atal Rohtang tunnel in 2021, the footfall of tourists has increased multi-fold in this region. Now with the Kiratpur-Manali highway reaching its final stages, it is bound to add to the visitors traffic, as thereafter the Chandigarh- Manali journey will become a distance commutable in around 5 hours. As per locals in area, once the highway is completely operational, travellers will be easily able to do Chandigarh and Manali. up-down in a single day. Also, the media note by the government did not clarify whether the hotels will be opened by the government owned tourism development corporation (HPTDC) or or on any other model.
However further the note informed that in a recent cabinet meeting, it was decided to establish Highway-cum-Tourist Police Stations at strategic locations along the Kiratpur-Manali National Highway. These stations, located at Baghed in Bilaspur district, Nerchowk in Mandi district, and Bhunter in Kullu district, will ensure the safety and security of commuters, adding an extra layer of protection to their journey.
Adding that the government’s efforts to expand tourism infrastructure and services are anticipated to generate employment and self-employment opportunities for the local population, contributing to the economic growth of the region.
A comprehensive overview of the ongoing projects was presented by the Managing Director of HPTDC, Amit Kashyap, during the meeting, emphasizing the corporation’s dedication to furthering tourism development in the state.
